EmmoLei Sankofa Scores Hulu's 'The Other Black Girl' Series

Film Music Reporter broke the news that EmmoLei Sankofa (she/her) is scoring the HULU original series The Other Black Girl, produced by Onyx Collective and based on the best-selling novel of the same name by Zakiya Dalila Harris. The show stars Sinclair Daniel, Ashleigh Murray, Hunter Parrish, Brittany Adebumola, Bellamy Young, Eric McCormack, and Garcelle Beauvais and follows an African American editorial assistant at a predominantly white publishing firm who gets excited when a new Black co-worker gets hired, but discovers something sinister is going on at the company. Co-showrunners Jordan Reddout and Gus Hickey are executive producing the Onyx Collective production with Rashida Jones, Adam Fishbach (Love, Victor, Grease: Rise of the Pink Ladies), Harris, Tara Duncan (Narcos, Sense8), as well as Temple Hill’s Marty Bowen & Wyck Godfrey (Smile, The Maze Runner).

The first two episodes of the series were premiered at the Martha’s Vineyard African American Film Festival on August 10, and the series will debut on HULU on September 13, 2023.

In addition, it was announced that EmmoLei has scored the Disney Launchpad short Project CC, directed by Cashmere Jasmine, which will have its premiere at the Oscar-qualifying HollyShorts Festival on Saturday, August 12 before debuting on Disney+ as part of season 2 of Disney’s Launchpad.
