Spectra Clients At 2023 HollyShorts Film Festival

2023 HollyShorts Film Festival

The Academy Awards® Qualifying HollyShorts Film Festival is celebrating its 19th year in Hollywood and will be showcasing several short films of various genres, bringing together creators, industry professionals, and companies together to help filmmakers reach the next step in their career. This year we are proud to showcase the work of two of our clients that have made it into the festival.

The Van

The Van

Tangelene Bolton (she/her) has scored The Van, a short film directed by Bernard Badion. The film follows a son who tries to convince his father to move out of the old family home and to move on from the passing of the son’s mother. The father stubbornly refuses to oblige unless his rundown van comes with him, and in the endeavors made to fix it, the son realizes there is more than just the van that needs repairing between them. The Van has been making its rounds on the festival circuit; it was an Official Selection in the 2023 LA Asian Pacific Film Festival, as well as a Winner for Best Narrative Short Film at the 2023 SLO Film Fest (San Luis Obispo International Film Festival), where it had its world premiere. It will be screening on Friday August 11th, 2:30 PM at the TCL Chinese 6 Theater, #1.

Confessions

Confessions

Confessions is a short film directed by Stephanie Kaznocha and is also scored by Tangelene Bolton. The film follows two nuns who, after the death of their friend, start a new chapter in their lives as one confession leads to another. Confessions originally premiered at Palms Springs ShortFest 2023 and previously won an audience award at Dances with Films. The film will screen on Saturday August 12th, 10:00PM at the TCL Chinese 6 Theater, #1.

Project CC

EmmoLei Sankofa (she/her) has scored the Disney Launchpad short film Project CC, directed by Cashmere Jasmine. The film is about “a brilliant child scientist [who] must reconnect with her beauty influencer sister when a cloning experiment goes awry.” Project CC will be having its world premiere at HollyShorts, Saturday August 12th, 12:00 PM at the TCL Chinese 6 Theater, #1.

We’re very excited for all three films and look forward to their reception at the festival in the upcoming days! For the festival schedule you can visit the official site here.
