New Signing: Jon Ekstrand

Spectra Creative Agency is thrilled to welcome composer Jon Ekstrand (he/him) to the agency family! Jon is a Stockholm-based composer known for his scores to the Sony Pictures/Marvel feature Morbius, the Netflix series The Helicopter Heist, and the Columbia Pictures feature Life. He is a frequent collaborator of director Daniel Espinosa and has collaborated with notable directors such as Lasse Hallström, Janus Metz, Gustav Möller, and May el-Toukhy.

Ekstrand has enjoyed a rich and dynamic career in film, working across the entire spectrum of the sound team—from boom operator and sound recordist to sound designer—before establishing himself as an acclaimed composer. A self-confessed synthesizer addict, Jon often begins crafting his scores with electro-acoustic elements at their core. His work spans a wide range of genres, from minimalist arthouse ambient to sweeping thriller dramas, recording with full orchestras at renowned studios such as Air Studios in London, as well as Columbia Studios and Sony Studios in Los Angeles. To date, Jon has scored over 40 films and TV series, earning notable accolades, including the Danish Film Institute's Robert Award for his score to the 2019 film Queen of Hearts and the Cannes Series Award for the 2020 TV series Top Dog.

Jon has also collaborated with Spectra client Rebekka Karijord on many projects like the HULU feature documentary I Am Greta, the Amazon Studios spy thriller All The Old Knives, and the HBO true crime series Pray Obey Kill. The two Stockholm-based composers enjoy their collaborations and are always open to exploring projects together when it makes sense creatively.
