Tangelene Bolton and Matthew Wang Score Films in 2023 LA Asian Pacific Film Festival

May is Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month, and to celebrate, Spectra Creative Agency is proud to represent two composers whose work will be featured at the 2023 Los Angeles Asian Pacific Film Festival:

The Van

Tangelene Bolton (she/her) has scored The Van, directed by Bernard Badion and starring Eugene Cordero and Raul Aranas. The film follows a son who tries to convince his father to move out of the old family home and to move on from the passing of the son’s mother. The father stubbornly refuses to oblige unless his rundown van comes with him, and in the endeavors made to fix it, the son realizes there is more than just the van that needs repairing between them.

Refuse

Matthew Wang (he/him) has scored Refuse, directed by David Lee and Kenneth Chang, starring Clara Young, Crystal Lee, James Kang, Jessica Whang, Kenneth Chang, Michelle Ok Lee, and Robin Ching. The film follows a son who lives in squalor in the basement of his church, escaping the grief of losing his father by falling into substance abuse. When a demon breaks free and takes over, the congregation must set the boy free by coming to terms with him, whom they had once already ostracized and deemed unworthy of saving.

Both screenings will be held on May 13th. You can purchase tickets for The Van here and for Refuse here.

Larry Hong

Larry Hong is the assistant to owner and agent Arbel Bedak at Spectra Creative Agency. In addition to working at Spectra, Larry is also a talented composer.
