Cindy O’Connor Champions Artists’ Rights at AI Roundtable in Washington

On Thursday, March 21st, the U.S. House Committee on Small Business hosted a roundtable focused on the impact of generative AI on small content creators. It called upon ACG Advocacy, one of Washington's premier bipartisan government affairs and strategic consulting firms, to invite clients to contribute their expertise, which included The American Society for Collective Rights Licensing (ASCRL), the Authors Guild, and the Society of Composers & Lyricists (SCL). Composer Cindy O’Connor (she/her) was invited as a board member of the Society of Composers and Lyricists and spoke to her experience and knowledge of the film and entertainment industry, and how generative AI directly comes into conflict with the “three C’s”: consent, credit, and compensation. She championed for artists’ rights and spurred further discussion about how small businesses must have a seat at the table.

We’re extremely proud that Cindy got to be the voice of composers and artists alike and hope that the conversation revolving AI continues to expand and take into account creatives’ livelihoods!
